Tomorrow, we start caring for our new #client, Mayita. She's a sweet #Shihtzu / #westie mix, super sweet and playful. We met her and her #dogmom, Martha, on the walking trail near my home one afternoon. "It was meant to be, you're a God-send," said Mayita's mom when I went by to meet with them. It so happens that I was at the trail with my aunt who works with Martha. We crossed paths at a time when she really needed my services as a #petsitter. We were introduced and she got my contact info.
She called about a week or so later. It turns out she is getting very busy at work and needed someone to drop in and check on her #dog for her.
For the next couple of days, I'll be dropping in on Mayita and letting her out to do her business, and get some fresh air. I know #pets can get lonely when their #petparents are gone for long periods of time, so I like to hang out a bit longer for the sake of the #pet. So far, all of my #clients appreciate the extra time I spend with their #pets, even if I don't have to.
1st Day:
Upon my arrival, Mayita jumped up and down with enthusiasm! She did not fear me one bit. I let her out and we walked on a leash out back and around the house. Her owner asked me to keep Mayita on leash for now until she could solve the oppossum problem. There is an oppossum in the yard somewhere. And, Mayita being part #Westhighlandterrier, she's a little hunting #dog. She will not leave the poor thing alone once she spots it. Generally, oppossums are more afraid of us than we are of them. They have to appear menacing in the hopes that you will not hurt them. They are slow movers and really cannot out-run much. Unfortunately, most people fear them. Mayita's owner feared she may get scratched or bitten, so I did what she asked and took precaution by leaving her on leash for now. Oppossums can scratch and they do have teeth, so I don't blame her for being protective of her #furbaby.
It soon began to rain, so Mayita and I went inside for snack time. She eats these special bars from #Bluebuffalobrand that are for #dogs with sensative stomachs. I sat on the carpet with her and we played for a few minutes with her favorite #dogtoy before she lost interest. Mayita preferred instead, that I rub her belly while she licked my foot. She was just pure delight! I enjoyed her. I #lovemyjob! I get to spend time with sweet #dogs and #cats just like Mayita, bring my boy, #Chachi, along when appropriate, have fun, and help support my family all at the same time! I feel #blessed to have a sucessful business that continues to grow with each passing month, mostly with great recommendations by word of mouth! Thanks to all of you who help spread the word and thanks for your faith in me.
